Even after producing an all-around standout campaign over the 2021 regular season, Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu believes that Patrick Mahomes can still improve his game.

In speaking during practice ahead of the 2022 Pro Bowl, Mathieu took some time to laud the Chiefs passer, where he also noted that he could very well see an even more improved Mahomes next season:

“He's a great leader, a great person,” Mathieu said. “He's extremely motivated to get back out there. Anytime you have a quarterback with that athletic ability and that leadership, I don't see a dropoff.

“I can see him coming back next year and being much more improved.”

For Mathieu to say that he can see Mahomes entering the 2022 campaign “being much more improved” sure should catch the attention of defensive coordinators across the NFL, especially in the AFC West.

Although he was often turnover-prone over the early portions of the season, Mahomes still managed to orchestrate another big campaign with the Chiefs, which included 37 passing touchdowns and 4,839 passing yards. Mahomes carried over his top form into the playoffs, where he notched an NFL record-tying 11 postseason touchdown passes.

Mahomes sure may enter the 2022 campaign with a chip on his shoulder, especially following the Chiefs’ AFC Championship game elimination at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals in which he struggled in the second half and overtime. The Chiefs may very well head into next season among the overwhelming favorites to make a run to the Super Bowl.
