Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill is still away from the team, but according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the expectation is that he will be with the team in time for training camp.

Pelissero also points out one of the biggest confusions of this case involved if he was still being actively investigated by Johnson County. Johnson County had reported that they had closed the case, but after the recording came out between Hill and his fiancé Crystal Espinal, there was some speculation that it was opened up again and the couple was being investigated.

Now it appears that that investigation was never actually opened and currently the case is closed.

“It is not an active investigation,” Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe said in an email to The Kansas City Star. “As in any case, if we receive additional evidence we reevaluate.”

Rodger Goodell said back in May that they were still waiting to interview Hill but couldn't yet because of a court proceeding involving Child Protection Services.

“There is a court proceeding still going on involving CPS, Child Protection Services, and we will not interfere with that,” Goodell said then. “The priority is this young child and so we will obviously be cooperative with whatever the court wants there. We are prepared to go ahead and have an interview whenever we have the permission to.”

It's unclear if they have interviewed him yet or if they still plan to. Unless there is some change and the league decides to step in, Hill should be back on the field for training camp.
