The Kansas City Chiefs brought in Sammy Watkins as their new offensive weapon, but through the first few weeks of training camp and the first preseason game, it is still Tyreek Hill who is receiving more of the targets, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.

“The ball at Chiefs training camp has gone more to one starting wide receiver, Tyreek Hill, than the other, Sammy Watkins. In the preseason opener last week, Hill caught two passes and Watkins none even though Watkins was in the game for nine snaps, compared to eight for Hill.”

Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy doesn't think this is an indication of what will happen this season but rather thinks it's more of an indication that Watkins and Patrick Mahomes still have a bit of chemistry to build.

“Camp is all about finding your rhythm, making sure we get in sync together,’’ Bieniemy said. “Part of that process is making sure we’re spending the right amount of time with each other but also giving those two an opportunity to link up a little bit more. When it’s all said and done, Sammy is doing a heck of a job. He’s doing a great job. He’s accepted the challenge because we’re not just playing him at one pos. He’s accepted the challenge of learning all three across the board. We want versatile football players.’’

It's not much of a big deal who gets more targets as long as both of these guys are in rhythm with Mahomes by the time the season starts. If the Chiefs want to have a chance in the AFC West and make the playoffs how well these three guys come together is going to be essential.
