Could Lamar Jackson vs. Patrick Mahomes be the next Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady?

Perhaps, but one thing is for sure; Mahomes feels like Jackson is focusing on him in the same way Mahomes focused on Brady following his losing to the future Hall of Famer twice to start his career.

“I had a very similar situation playing Tom Brady,” Mahomes said in a sit-down interview with ESPN. “I won all those games my first two years, but I lost to Tom twice. So I understand he's going to be driven. Whenever you play a team that is of his caliber and our team coming off a Super Bowl win, you know it's going to be a great game.”

The game he's referring to is Monday night's matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. After losing to Mahomes in both of his first two seasons, Jackson is sure to be chomping at the bit to get over that hump. If Jackson can beat Mahomes this Monday, it would be a huge confidence boost for the third-year pro, but that is a big if.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are on a mission this season to repeat as Super Bowl Champions. This could be a Peyton Manning-Tom Brady type rivalry, where they are both top of the league and are both considered stars, but when it really matters, Jackson just can't get over the mountain that is Patrick Mahomes.

If Jackson can, however, it may be the moment that gives the Ravens what they need to get to the next level.
