Eric Bieniemy and the Kansas City Chiefs are focused on winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles on Sunday, but his contract situation is indeed looming. Regardless of what happens on Sunday, the Chiefs and Bieniemy plan on inking an extension this offseason, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bieniemy's contract with the Chiefs is set to expire after Sunday's Super Bowl showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, Kansas City doesn't plan on letting Bieniemy go without a new contract for long as both sides are interested in getting a deal done.

Of course, Bieniemy's name has been rumored as a head coach candidate in the recent seasons. Sadly, while he's gotten interviews from multiple teams, a team has yet to hire Bieniemy as a head coach in the NFL.

Nevertheless, Bieniemy remains in an ideal situation as the offensive coordinator of the Chiefs. Even though he doesn't get to call all of the plays, working with Andy Reid has allowed Bieniemy to work alongside one of the best offensive minds in the league.

Patrick Mahomes and other marquee members of the Chiefs have raved about getting a chance to be coached by Bieniemy. Bienemy has been regarded as a coach that holds the players accountable and has built long-lasting relationships with players on the roster.

Given the interest around the league, the Chiefs likely didn't expect to still have Bieniemy on their coaching staff. But until Bieniemy hopefully gets a chance to be a head coach, Kansas City won't mind one bit to keep him as their offensive coordinator.
