Despite having star safety Earl Thomas back in the fold, there is still chatter around him concerning his long-term future with the franchise.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, there has been some growing talk that the Kansas City Chiefs could emerge into the picture as a possible landing spot for Thomas this season prior to the trade deadline.

Throughout the entire process, the Dallas Cowboys had long been considered the favorites to emerge as a possible landing spot for a trade this season and in free agency next offseason. However, the Chiefs have emerged as a strong suitor as the team has a strong need to address their defense that has had difficulty in the first couple of weeks against the pass.

Thomas would be a significant upgrade for the Chiefs to sure up the backend of their secondary as he's still performing like one of the best safeties in the league. He is in the prime of the career that could have plenty to offer especially with the potential pairing alongside Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry.

Things have continued to progress toward the Seahawks looking to move on from Thomas in order to alleviate the situation. There is clearly some sort of dysfunction between both sides along with the team heading south dropping their first two games of the season could push the team to move on in order to gather an asset for him if he were to depart in free agency.
