On 4th and inches from the Buffalo 12-yard line, Andy Reid of the Chiefs rolled the dice against the Bills and called a play not for Patrick Mahomes, but Darrel Williams.

His gamble paid off in full, as Williams scampered into the end zone to give the Kansas City Chiefs a 20-10 lead over the Buffalo Bills heading into the fourth quarter on Monday night.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes took a shotgun snap from a wishbone formation and handed the ball to Williams on a draw play. Williams rode the left side of the offensive line to pay dirt.

It was the third-year tailbacks first rushing TD of his career and first of the 2020 season. He had 35 yards on the season heading into Monday night's matchup. At the end of three quarters, Williams had 26 yards on three carries for the Chiefs, plus a 15-yard reception. A solid game from Williams may help him retain a workload once recently-signed RB Le'Veon Bell joins the squad for Week 7.

On the previous play for the Chiefs, a 3rd and 5, Mahomes had one of the more unique four yard runs you'll ever see from a quarterback, scrambling to the left sideline, pausing for a quick spin, then lunging towards the first down marker.

Mahomes has 27 rushing yards on six carries so far for the Chiefs, and has completed 15-for-20 passes for 139 yards, two TDs — both to TE Travis Kelce — and zero interceptions on the game.

The Chiefs lead the Bills, 23-10, early in the fourth quarter in a showdown of 4-1 teams. The game at Bills Stadium was postponed as a result of schedule shake-ups related to COVID-19 positive tests.
