We have a pulse in Kansas City. Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman, the team's kickoff return specialist on special teams, returned a kick from KC's own end zone after the Houston Texans extended their 20-plus-point lead with a field goal all the way back to Houston's own 42-yard line to breathe new life into the Chiefs' potential historic comeback (via NFL).

An opening-drive 50-yard touchdown reception by Kenny Stills via 24-year-old star quarterback Deshaun Watson gave the Texans an early lead. Then, later in the first quarter, Houston also scored on a blocked punt return and later converted at the goal line following a muffed punt recovery by the Chiefs.

Now the Chiefs have a chance to retaliate following Hardman's, 21, fantastic skills on the kickoff return. The 5-foot-11 rookie out of Georgia, selected by Kansas City in the second round of the 2019 NFL draft, scored his first career kickoff return in Week 17 two weeks ago against the Los Angeles Chargers.

This isn't a touchdown, but so far in his young career it could be Hardman's most important kickoff return should the Chiefs whittle down Houston's early mega-lead.
