Despite being unable to finish each of the last two seasons due to blood clot scares he's had, Chris Bosh is optimistic that he eventually be cleared by doctors to play in time to join the Miami Heat‘s training camp in the Bahamas in less than three weeks.

The 11-time All-Star recently said he was “ready” to get back on the court at training camp, though he isn't sure he'll be cleared in time.

Bosh also acknowledged publicly for the first time that he has gotten in touch with another athlete who has been going through the same condition as him – NHL player Tomas Fleischmann of the Florida Panthers.

“This is the best part about this. I’m not the first athlete to do this regimen, my wife and I, we went out and found doctors ourselves and we worked with guys. We ended up finding a guy by the name of Tomas Fleischmann. He used to play with the Florida Panthers. Same problem I had… This is six years before. He’s been playing for five years now. I got in touch with him.

“He worked with a certain particular doctor, and this certain particular doctor has had the same regimen with other athletes. This is nothing that is new. It’s not groundbreaking. We’re not re-inventing the wheel. It’s not standard, but it’s proven and guys have played on it.”

This certainly sounds promising for him and the South Beach faithful as Fleischmann was able to continue his pro career while taking the same medications that Bosh will use.

Bosh had previously suggested to the Heat that he'll be taking medicine that will be out of his system in six to hours hours, just in time before they start a game. The team initially turned down his idea and did not allow him to join his teammates on the court during last season's playoffs. It can be recalled that the 6-foot-10 power forward even raised his concern with the NBPA, where they decided to let the Heat ultimately decide.

The situation between Chris Bosh and Miami Heat is certainly something worth monitoring in the next few weeks. Should the 32-year-old be allowed to play again, he'll be a huge boost to the team which saw their franchise player of 13 years sign with another team when Dwyane Wade left for the Chicago Bulls.

Bosh will be the leader his teammates look up to in order to help them become contenders again.
