Once again, NBA fans were bored with the Hack-A-DeAndre strategy last night.

In playoff games, where the magnitude of the moment exceeds all other times of the year, teams will do anything within the rules if they believe it will positively impact their ability to come out on top.

From start to finish, the Portland Trail Blazers would not leave DeAndre Jordan alone in Game 1 of the Western Quarterfinals. Whether it was the first quarter or late in the fourth when the outcome was already essentially decided, the Blazers were going to send Jordan to the free throw line with intentional fouls.

Portland head coach Terry Scotts defended his decision.

“Well when you're down and you have an opportunity to extend the game, it's the playoffs,” Stotts told reporters. “As long as he's in there, it's something you have to employ. I know it's not necessarily pretty but you've got to do whatever you can to try to extend the game and win a game.”

In doesn't look like Jordan enjoyed it too much, though.

As you can see, former Clippers teammate and current Blazers center Chris Kaman seemed to enjoy how frustrated D.J. was after the foul.

DeAndre finished 8-for-18 from the line on the night, a number low enough to justify the move in the eyes of the Blazers. If Jordan wants things to change, Kaman has some advice for him.

Jordan was just 43% from the charity stripe over the course of the season, a percent higher than his career average. There has been some discussion about changing the rule in the past, but it's going to remain in place for the time being.

“I mean, he should use it,” Clippers head coach Rivers said. “There's nothing wrong with it. It's part of the rules still, never had a problem with guys doing it. We've been pretty successful when guys have done it. There have been a couple of times – like in San Antonio one game, probably two or three times where it actually affected us. But overall, it's been pretty good for us.”
