The Louisville Cardinals have received some unfortunate news regarding head coach Chris Mack. According to multiple reports, Mack has been suspended for the first six games of the Cardinals' upcoming college basketball season.

Matt Norlander of CBS Sports has the details on the suspension.

Mack has been suspended due to the details regarding the extortion of former assistant coach Dino Gaudio. Six games isn't a huge suspension for Chris Mack, but the head coach will miss some valuable games that Louisville has scheduled to kick off the college hoops season.

Per the release, Mack will also be prohibited from having any contact with the team, which could make things difficult especially at the beginning of the season. Louisville struggled a bit in 2020-2021, finishing with a 13-7 overall record and an 8-5 record in the ACC and are looking to turn things around this season.

The Bahamas event includes Maryland, Richmond, and Mississippi State as well as Louisville, so that is a tough group but could provide the Cardinals with an opportunity to kick off some early season winning streak. But, without Chris Mack, things are going to be difficult, and there could be more penalties being handed down from this situation regarding Louisville.
