Immediately after leading the Clippers past the Jazz in Game 2 of their first-round matchup, Chris Paul was asked about heading out on the road to play the next two games in Utah. Jazz fans are among the best in the league, so Paul acknowledged their fervent support for their team by saying, “They have a lot of fans there who are complete homers. It's going to be loud and sure to be exciting but we got to be ready.”
Although Paul was complimenting Jazz fans, his “homers” comment, really set them off as they took it the wrong way:
Well, yeah. They’re homers. They’re fans.
You have Billy Crystal and Lakers fans that can’t afford Golden State jerseys.

Chris Paul just called Jazz fans homers. I guess it would be weird to see fans that care coming from that arena.

When all the clipper fans are just fair weather laker fans, it makes sense why CP3 called Jazz fans homers. #takenote

Someone should bring giant Homer Simpson cardboard heads to wave behind the basket every time CP3 shoots free throws. https://t.co/TKxCzjcdvB

Paul was asked about his “homers” comment in his postgame interview session with reporters and he clarified that it was meant to be a compliment.
“I’ve said that before, they’re homers,” Paul said. “When you go there you don’t really see opposing team’s jerseys. They support their team, which is good. So how could you even take that another way?”
Here is the previous compliment that Paul is referring to:

Just a strange thing for Jazz fans to get worked up about. Perhaps by Game 3 on Friday Jazz fans will have changed their minds about Paul, if not the Clippers guard may likely hear some boos in Utah.
