With Chris Paul slated to become a free agent, he will undoubtedly become one of the most sought-after players this summer. Teams around the league are expected to pitch to him as they try to add him to their fold. However, there is also speculation that he may likely remain with the L.A. Clippers.

Despite having a choice to play for any franchise that he wants, the appeal of signing a five-year deal and continuing to build on what he's started with his team could weigh more on the All-Star point guard, according to Tim Bontemps of The Washington Post.

“After six years with the Clippers, Paul has a choice: Stick with the team or go elsewhere in free agency. It seems unlikely Paul will leave — after all, he engineered a change in the new collective bargaining agreement to allow him to get a five-year maximum contract — but it remains in play.”

“Paul likely will be among the most prominent free agents this summer, but he’s expected to remain in Los Angeles.”

Even after another disappointing season, Paul still has a lot of reason to remain with the Clippers. He also has deep connections with the team, especially head coach Doc Rivers, who he has the utmost respect for.

It will be very interesting to see how things will unfold for him and his team this summer, as his decision could greatly affect his teammates' free agency as well. Should he ultimately decide to stay, the Clippers will continue to have one of the best point guards in the league, and could make a strong run for the title if they'll be able to keep their core, stay healthy, and add additional pieces who will be complimentary to them.
