During his playing years, power forward/center Chuck Hayes was popularly known as the undersized player who had an unorthodox free-throw shooting form.

He mostly came off the bench during his stints with the three NBA teams he played for, but always came out with a lot of energy and heart.

The 6-foot-6 and 11-year veteran has recently signed with the Denver Nuggets, but in a non-player role. Hayes will be joining the team as an entry-level staff assistant helping both the front office as well as the coaching staff.

Hayes last appeared in the NBA just this previous season after suiting up for the Houston Rockets, his second stint with the team, in two games and was waived a week after.

At only 33-years-old, the Kentucky product is expected to be able to join the drills and provide mentoring to the young players the team has with the likes of Emmanuel Mudiay, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, just to name a few.

Hayes owns career averages of 3.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18.3 minutes per game. His rebounding numbers are the most impressive given his height and position he plays. If he can share some tips to the current players of the Nuggets, it may be one of the best things he can contribute as a staff assistant.
