The NBA's Most Improved Player from 2016 just took some shots towards the reigning back-to-back MVP.

CJ McCollum was doing a Q&A on his Twitter and one fan had a very specific question: Can Stephen Curry guard him?

According to CJ, it is not even a question. It is a straight up “Nope.”

The Portland Trail Blazers 2-guard seems pretty confident about his game. No one can take that away from him. CJ McCollum did produce some solid numbers and had some great performances in the past season, rising his market value. He also cashed in with a four-year, $106-million contract extension.

No one can deny Steph's amazing offensive game either, though. He is definitely not the best perimeter defender out there and his defensive game needs improvement. But he does get less credit than he actually deserves on defense.

The main reason for that is likely how great a perimeter defender Klay Thompson is, who takes defensive responsibility, making Steph the second option on defense. He is far from an All-Defensive player, but he isn't on the other end the spectrum either. McCollum, though, has a specific play he can point to on this discussion about him against Curry.

However, this question can go both ways. Can CJ McCollum guard Curry? Probably not. Very few players could pull that off. But let us remember that the NBA is played on a 5-on-5 basis, not 1-on-1. Good defense is most of the times executed as a team. Some great defenders can put extra pressure. But what is required is good defensive balance and work by all players.
