Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers fell all the way back to No. 25 in the AP polls after their most recent loss to North Carolina State.

Clemson is 2-2 and any dreams of going to the playoffs are already out the window for this year. With Boston College up next, Swinney looked at some of the early, yet fixable struggles from his quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei, per 247Sports.com.

“Inconsistent,” Swinney said. “Just inconsistent. Not where he needs to be, not what he can be, not what he will be. At times, really good, ‘wow.' At times, you go, ‘Dadgummit.' So, inconsistent.”

Swinney was asked if the struggles for the young Clemson quarterback have anything to do with him just relying on his talent too much. Swinney dismissed the thought.

“No, you go back and watch this (Boston College) game last year and he was unbelievable,” Swinney said. “You watch this tape, I mean he was special in this game. So he can do it. It's just putting it all together. We have to be better around him. It's not just D.J. Sometimes I think he gets trying to do too much. It's kind of been a weird start and you get into some bad habits and stuff like that.”

Clemson will look to bounce back against Boston College on Saturday with the ACC title still well within focus for Swinney's squad. While it's a bit of a shock to see Clemson out of the playoff hunt this early in the season, there is still plenty that can be accomplished and salvaged this year.
