Merely hours after the shocking news that the Cleveland Cavaliers decided not to renew the contract of now-former general manager David Griffin, there are already speculations about where his next destination could be.

It's a foregone conclusion that Griffin will attract a new position right away with his track record from the past three seasons. He constructed a championship roster from the moment LeBron James stepped foot back in Ohio and was working on acquiring another high profile player until the moment he was no longer a Cavs employee.

One interesting rumor which has emerged comes from Los Angeles where a bevy of rumors have already been swirling on the possibility of Griffin taking his talents to the City of Angels. While the Lakers are in the midst of deciding who to draft and whether or not trade for a disgruntled Paul George, the Clippers have quietly pried Jerry West away from the Golden State Warriors, who could play a prominent role in convincing Griffin to join the Clippers' front office.

According to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, Griffin will get a call from the Clippers sometime in the near future to see whether he is interested in joining a stacked front office in progress. Once the team managed to convince future Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett to come on as a consultant to the coaching staff, it opened another world of opportunities to look at outside talent to help continue to build a championship-caliber team.

In short, the Clippers can offer Griffin an advisor role, a consultant role, or even the general manager position granted Doc Rivers relinquishes his position as president of basketball operations. That's where the logo himself comes in, who had a big part in constructing many championship rosters, and also helped convince Kevin Durant to join the Warriors. His influence around the league has always been completely invaluable when it comes to winning.

West could be the power play that may be able to convince Griffin that this is the way to go.  Add in the rumors that James could be looking to head to the Western Conference, and how Griffin is someone who gained his respect, it could be an interesting year convincing Chris Paul to remain with the team and bringing his banana boat buddy along next summer.
