Hollywood actor Billy Crystal is perhaps one of the Los Angeles Clippers' most prominent fans. The 71-year-old versatile actor has been on the Clippers' side for many years now, and has been witness to the team's darkest days.

However, Crystal is now staring at the new era of the Clippers organization head on, with the team recently assembling the league's latest superteam. Speaking to Marc Stein of The New York Times, Crystal shared the conversation he had with team head coach Doc Rivers via SMS before and after L.A. successfully acquired the services of both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George.

“All I wrote was, ‘Fingers crossed,’” Crystal said.

“Mine, too,” Rivers replied.

Asked what he texted Rivers after it sunk in that the double score of Leonard and George was no hoax, Crystal said: “I told him, ‘This could be really exciting, but don’t worry. I promise you I won’t massage your shoulders during a game.’ ”

This is typical Billy Crystal comedy gold here. However, despite his attempt to cloak his excitement with humor, it is crystal clear that his anticipation and expectations for the coming season are at an all-time high — and rightfully so. Clippers fans have suffered through some of the worst spells in league history, and it is due time that they are rewarded for all their patience and steadfastness.

It's definitely a great time to be a Clippers fan right now, and much like Crystal, the entire Clipper nation just can't wait for the new season to unfold.
