Damian Lillard is one of the best point guards in the NBA. Ever since being drafted out of Weber State in 2012, Lillard has been the de-facto franchise leader for the Portland Trail Blazers and so far, he hasn't disappointed. The Blazers have made the playoffs for the last three years, even after the departure of franchise cornerstone LaMarcus Aldridge, Nic Batum, and Wesley Matthews. Now, Lillard steers the ship with CJ McCollum, leading the Blazers to the fifth best record in the West at 22-19, a full three spots ahead of where they were in the 2017 NBA playoffs.

However, now that the second round of voting results for the All-Star Game have been counted, it appears that Damian Lillard didn't receive much love from the fans. In fact, he was even trailing players such as Lonzo Ball and Blake Griffin.

According to Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune, Griffin had a sympathetic response for gaining more votes the Lillard.

“If it happens, it happens. There are guys that have been left off who deserve to be on the All-Star team, guys like Damian Lillard. Damian has experienced that over and over.”

In his five-year playing career, Lillard has received two All-Star appearances, with one being a replacement for an injured player. Gregg Popovich has supported Lillard's candidacy earlier this year for his role in the All-Star game, citing that he believes that Lillard is an amazing player.

“He’s a hell of a player, one of the best guards in the league. (Making All-Star team) is just very difficult to do. There are a lot of good players. He’s certainly more than deserving to be talked about in that regard.”

Lillard is currently averaging 25.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.4 assists while playing 36.6 minutes per game.
