After six seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers, Chris Paul knew things were not going to work out. If they had not worked out the past six years, why would they now? The Clippers were not able to get past the 2nd round of the playoffs and the team needed fresh air. Paul knows his goals. He is championship hungry and wants to join close friends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade with a ring of his own. It is the same reason Carmelo Anthony went to the OKC Thunder.

Even though things did not work out in LA, give Paul credit for the way he closed his last chapter with the team. He could have angrily walked away in free agency, leaving a Clippers team helpless, and cut ties with the Clippers front office and teammates. But instead, he worked together with the organization to try and find a situation that benefitted both, and they did. In an interview with The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears, former teammate Blake Griffin speaks of how everything happened:

“I talked to [Paul] the morning before it came out. He called me and just kind of told me everything. Like I told him on the phone, I wished him the best and appreciated the years we had together. That situation was handled the right way. You see other guys and other teammates go separate ways with a bad taste in their mouth because it wasn’t handled the right way.

We shared a lot of moments together. Some good. Some bad. Some just the mundane everyday sitting on the plane, sitting on the bus. When you share that much time with somebody, you have a connection. But now we’re in separate places and both moving forward.”

Griffin is happy that Paul left on good terms and their teammates relationship ended well. This is what you would expect from Paul. Never getting into drama, always handling things like a true professional.
