If there was any confirmation needed, Bruce Bowen reaffirmed the notion that he was fired from his television analyst job because of his criticism of Kawhi Leonard. The LA Clippers are poised to strongly pursue Leonard during the summer of 2019, and Bowen's critique of Leonard was enough to get him axed from his position.

Bowen appeared on the Dan Patrick Show to discuss his firing.

Patrick: “Did they come out and just say look we're not bringing you back because of the comments you made about Kawhi? Was it that kind of cut and dry?”

Bowen: “Oh yeah. It was basically ‘we don't view your views that way and because of your comments of Kawhi Leonard, we've chosen to go a separate way.'”

Bowen goes on to discuss how he views this situation. As an analyst, Bowen believes it's his job to be honest and to analyze what he sees to the best of his abilities. He wasn't disrespectful to Leonard, so there was no reason to let go of Bowen for being unfair to Leonard.

Bowen's fair criticism cost him his job, which is a bad look for the Clippers. For the most part, everyone knew what happened. Bowen's comments rubbed Clippers brass the wrong way, and they took it as an opportunity to show Kawhi that they are willing to make him comfortable.

It's unfortunate that it cost Bowen his job, but it shows just how far teams will go to land a superstar who can change the face of the organization.
