Danilo Gallinari’s first season with the L.A. Clippers continues to be a struggle for the forward because of his health. According to ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly, the sweet-shooting 6-foot-10 Gallinari remains out indefinitely with a glute injury, and that he’d be up for re-evaluation in January.

Gallinari has missed the Clippers’ past five games due to the injury that was originally thought to be only a glute contusion, but further inspection revealed that it’s actually a tear. Earlier this season, Gallinari didn’t punch his card for 13 straight games also because of a glute injury.

All told, Danilo Gallinari has played in just 11 games this season, averaging 13.4 points, 2.5 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game.

In Gallo’s absence, Clippers head coach Doc Rivers will deploy a unit that will see more of Sam Dekker and Wesley Johnson at the three position for the depleted L.A. squad that is also missing the services of Blake Griffin (knee).

Gallinari was expected to be one of the cornerstones of the Clippers this season after the Denver Nuggets shipped him to the West Coast as part of a blockbuster three-team trade back in the offseason.

Known as an injury-prone player, Danilo Gallinari is an effective weapon with a knack for draining shots from long range when healthy. He is a career 36.7 percent shooter from deep. Gallinari’s current contract won’t expire until 2020.
