LA Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari recently took part in an interview with Gazzetta.it, an Italian-based news website. During the discussion, Gallinari revealed that his right hand has not yet healed, despite the fact that he's received treatment from specialists. Gallo also noted that surgery is off the table — for now.

Via Sportando:

“My right hand is not healed yet,” Gallinari told Gazzetta.it. “I visited some specialists in the USA and now I will do the same in Italy. I rule out the surgery for the moment, but I have to understand better how to recover.”

As most hoops fans know, Gallinari sustained a fracture in his right hand during a game against the Golden State Warriors on Feb. 22. Gallo gave a shot fake to Draymond Green, which worked as planned. However, as Green came back down, his elbow made contact with Gallo's hand. What was deemed a bruised hand was later revealed to be a fracture after the swelling went down and an MRI was done. He was able to return and play a couple of games late in the season, but once the Clippers were out of playoff contention, all sides agreed it was in Gallinari's best interests if he sat out the rest of the season. During a game on April 1, Gallinari told ClutchPoints he re-aggravated the hand injury, which left him in “constant pain” during the game.

Gallinari, now 29 years of age, played in just 21 games for the Clippers this season, averaging 15.3 points on 39.8 percent shooting from the field (32.4 percent from beyond the arc), 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 32.0 minutes per.

Needless to say, it's been a fairly tough year for Gallo with regards to injuries. He missed a month of play with a glute tear, returned to play two games in mid-December, then was forced back to the bench for over a month due to the re-aggravation of the glute tear.

Gallinari signed a three-year, $64.8 million contract with the Clippers last July after spending the previous six seasons with the Denver Nuggets.
