DeMarcus Cousins and the Los Angeles Clippers are discussing a 10-day contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. While Woj says an official decision isn't expected until next week, Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium reports the plan is for Cousins to join the Clippers pending clearance of the NBA's health and safety protocols.

Cousins is in Los Angeles and starting the testing protocols in advance of this potential deal.

Cousins previously suited up for the Houston Rockets this season, averaging 9.6 points and 7.6 rebounds through 25 appearances. He has yet to make it back in full form as he missed the majority of last season with a torn ACL injury. Cousins was eventually waived by Houston.

After he was released, the former Kentucky product was initially linked to making a return to the Los Angeles Lakers as star big man Anthony Davis went down with an injury that still has him on the shelf. The Lakers opted to pursue and secure the services of Andre Drummond, who worked out a buyout agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers after the trade deadline.

With the Lakers getting their hands on a new center, Cousins is now looking to reach a deal with the Clippers. The Tyronn Lue-led team is currently being bannered by Ivica Zubac and Patrick Patterson in the frontcourt. They also have Marcus Morris and Serge Ibaka, who are currently dealing with their respective injuries.

For what it's worth, the Clippers just acquired Cousins' former teammate Rajon Rondo in exchange for veteran guard Lou Williams and a couple of draft assets. The team's front office is expected to continue scouring the free-agent market for available talent, and the coming week will see whether or not DeMarcus Cousins will don a Clippers jersey for the remainder of the season.
