Over his last five games, Los Angeles Clippers superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard is averaging 36.0 points and head coach Doc Rivers seems to know why.

Rivers says Leonard is thriving on offense because the Clippers are starting to execute their plays more frequently, which is putting the two-time Finals MVP in positions to be successful:

In 33 games this season, Leonard is averaging 26.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists. He’s shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 88.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The Clippers are 2-0 against the Los Angeles Lakers this season and Leonard dominated Lakers star LeBron James in the first two matchups between the two LA teams. The 2014 and 2019 NBA Finals MVP is averaging 32.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists versus the Lakers while shooting 55.3 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from beyond the arc and 94.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Clippers are 30-13 on the season. They are legitimate title contenders with Leonard and Paul George leading the way. Leonard is the first Clippers player with five straight 30-point games since World B. Free did it in 1980. He's already making franchise history in his first season with the team.

Basketball fans in Los Angeles are praying the Clippers and Lakers meet in the Western Conference Finals. A series with Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, LeBron James and Anthony Davis in it would be very special to watch.
