Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers has recently provided another update on the status of his prized swingman, Paul George, who has yet to make his Clippers debut as the 29-year-old continues to recover from the shoulder surgeries he underwent during the offseason.

According to Rivers, George is taking the necessary steps toward his much-awaited return to the court:

“He's been going hard,” Rivers said, via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints. “He's doing more live work. Just not in a 5-on-5 yet. Hopefully, next week we start doing that. I'll give you that much. Then we go from there.”

While this may be somewhat encouraging, Rivers is still hesitant to provide a firm timetable on George's highly anticipated debut, so it's unclear just when the star will be back.

Previous reports stated that a return in November is a feasible target date for George, but to say that anything is certain at this point would simply be jumping the gun.

The Paul George-less Clippers were in action again on Sunday, as they defeated the Utah Jazz, 105-94, at Staples Center. Kawhi Leonard has been very impressive in the absence of his new co-superstar, and his performance against the Jazz (30 points, two 3-pointers, six rebounds, three assists, three steals, and a block) was just another day at the office for the reigning Finals MVP.

The Clippers are currently 5-2 to start the season, and with the team looking this good without George, it does appear that this side will indeed be a serious contender for this season's title.
