Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers sees star potential in point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

The Clippers drafted Gilgeous-Alexander with the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Rivers has always been high on the youngster.

“I was high on him,” Rivers said of Gilgeous-Alexander, via Jovan Buha of The Athletic. “I said it when we drafted him. I said, ‘He’s gonna be a star.’ Then in camp, I was really high on him because you could just see it. I didn’t know where he was going this year or when he was gonna get there. But he’s gonna be really good. He’s just going to keep getting better.”

The Clippers are making the playoffs this season and Gilgeous-Alexander has played a big role on the team.

The Toronto native has played in every game this season for the Clippers. He's averaging 10.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 47.6 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 79.8 percent from the free-throw line.

After trading Chris Paul to the Rocket in the summer of 2017, there was concern of who was going to run the show for the Clippers at the point guard spot. That concern is gone now that Gilgeous-Alexander is in Los Angeles.
