Doc Rivers has a pretty simple approach when preparing his Los Angeles Clippers against Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo: “stand in there and take the fire.”

Antetokounmpo is one of the most dominant players in the game today, and Rivers acknowledged that before they take on Giannis and Co. Wednesday evening.

Giannis has been unstoppable so far in his first seven games of the season. Heading into the showdown with the Clippers, the reigning NBA MVP is averaging 27.7 points, 14.0 rebounds, 7.4 assists, 1.1 steal and 1.6 block per game.

The Greek Freak also won the player of the week honors for the Eastern Conference in the second week of the regular season, as he led the Bucks to a 5-2 record.

Rivers has some of the peskiest defenders in the league in the form of Patrick Beverley, Montrezl Harrell, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. However, Leonard was ruled out of their showdown against the Bucks, while George is still out as he rehabs after undergoing surgeries to both his shoulders this past spring.

The Bucks, with Giannis, figure to be top contenders in the East once again. Meanwhile, the Clippers are expected to dominate in the West — especially when Leonard and George play together in the lineup.
