Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers just tied one of the greatest basketball minds in league history, Red Auerbach, in terms of coaching wins on Tuesday.

Rivers recorded his 938th career victory as a coach and tied the legendary Auerbach for 11th on the NBA’s all-time wins list. Rivers achieved the historic feat in the Clippers' 131-107 mauling of the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.

The late Red Auerbach, of course, was the orchestrator of the Boston Celtics' dominant run in the late '50s to mid-'60s. Under his watchful eye and guidance, Boston won nine titles — including eight consecutive championships from 1959-1966.

Auerbach, who is perhaps best-known as the cigar-smoking coach from the old NBA footages, coached some of the most iconic players in NBA history such as Bill Russell and Bob Cousy.

Doc Rivers, meanwhile, also assumed the helm in Beantown from 2004 to 2013. He was the team's tactician during Boston's last NBA title in 2008, coaching the iconic Big 4 of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo.

Up next on the list for Rivers is Bill Fitch, who amassed 944 career wins. He will likely surpass that as well this season, considering the Clippers are one of the favorites to win it all this year.

Don Nelson still lords over everyone with 1,335 career victories, while San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich (third all-time) is the winningest active coach with 1,272 wins.

With a proven track record in tow, Rivers certainly has a chance to climb even higher the rankings once its all said and done.
