An Eastern Conference executive believes that the Los Angeles Clippers will win the Western Conference title next season as long as they can keep their superstars healthy. The Clippers placed themselves in serious contention for the title after the major roster shakeup that they made this offseason. Los Angeles signed Kawhi Leonard, who is coming off a title run with the Toronto Raptors. Before acquiring Leonard, the Clippers struck a blockbuster trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder for Paul George.

According to the Eastern Conference executive who spoke to Tim Bontemps of ESPN, if Leonard and George stay healthy for the rest of the season, they will win the West next season. The exec pointed out that aside from George, the Clippers have a solid backcourt rotation and veterans off the bench.

“If you can get to the end of the season with those two guys on the court, with the guard they have and some solid vets coming off the bench, they do it,” the executive said.

The Los Angeles Lakers are also in the conversation with LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the purple and gold next season. However, an Eastern Conference scout said that he will still put his money on the Clippers because he cannot trust the Lakers to “get anything right” next season.
