The Los Angeles Clippers were able to secure a huge win on Monday night, as they defeated their crosstown rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, 113-105.

There was a lot riding on this ballgame, and as a result, there were a number of heated moments throughout the contest. At one point, Clippers forward JaMychal Green got into it with LeBron James — an incident that the former shed some light on during a post-game interview:

Green's sentiment here resonated with the entire Clippers team throughout the contest. They definitely showed their mental fortitude against the Lakers, and made it abundantly clear that they had no intention of backing down from a dog fight.

This was exactly the type of attitude the Clippers needed in order to fend off a resolute Lakers side that was practically fighting for their lives. For LeBron and company, this defeat represented another blow to their playoff hopes, as they are now five and a half games outside the playoff picture in the Western Conference.

As for the Clippers, the victory lifted them to the seventh spot in the West, and now six games ahead of the Lakers. With the regular season quickly coming to its conclusion, the Clippers are getting closer and closer to securing a playoff berth, and this recent victory took them one step closer to the postseason.

Nonetheless, now is not the time to get complacent as there are still a number of teams — perhaps including even the Lakers — who might just have a thing or two to say before this regular season finally draws to a close.
