Basketball Hall of Famer and current Los Angeles Clippers special adviser Jerry West was put on the spot and asked about his thoughts on Kawhi Leonard's load management set up with the Clippers. Apparently, this was not a subject West was comfortable discussing, as the 81-year-old blatantly tried to sweep the topic under the rug.

“Well, I’m certainly not qualified to talk about that, and I’m not going to talk about that,” West said, via Sam Amick of The Athletic. “That’s up for the doctors and also the NBA and the respective teams to deal with on their own.”

West went on to say that in his mind, the NBA is much different today than it was during his time. Nonetheless, he did seem to imply that he understands why this mindset shift has become so prominent in the league. According to West, the most important thing right now is ensuring the players' long-term health.

“But also, you want to make sure – in my opinion – that they’re physically not compromised in any way,” he added. “This is beyond me, beyond my ability to talk about it, and it’s best left to our organization, our doctors and the league. Not me.”

While West refused to give us an insider look at how the Clippers intend to treat Leonard's current load management situation, what is clear is that West appears to be taking a hands-off approach in this matter.

Either that or he just really wasn't in the mood to cover this particular subject.
