Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers suffered their sixth loss in their last nine games on Sunday night. The New Orleans Pelicans' 135-115 win over LA marked the third-worst loss of the season for the Clippers, who have struggled to right the ship the last few weeks.

Injuries haven't helped, as Serge Ibaka left the game late in the first quarter and didn't return. Patrick Beverley was already out for the Clippers' road trip with knee soreness. Head coach Tyronn Lue wasn't buying the injuries as a reason for allowing 72 points in the paint on 31-of-38 at the rim and 5-of-10 from the non-restricted area of the paint.

“Everybody’s missing guys all year,” Tyronn Lue said after the loss. “That’s no excuse. I just think we didn’t play with the physicality that we needed to play with tonight.

“If a guy is 13-for-16 from the field, one free throw, no 3s, I mean, not putting him on the free-throw line, not even trying to get in his way to try to stop him, you know. Until we show some toughness, until we show some willingness to play one-on-one, I think it’s gonna be tough for us and we didn’t do that tonight.”

Kawhi Leonard echoed similar sentiments while also calling it “concerning” that the Clippers have been unable to string together multiple games successfully executing their principles in a row.

“I mean, it’s very concerning,” Leonard admitted. “If we want to have a chance at anything, you gotta be consistent. That’s what the great teams do, they’re consistent. You know, they have their nights when the energy’s not there, but it’s all about consistency, from teams, to players, to coaches. That’s what makes a team great: players great, coaches great. A consistency of being, wanting to win, and doing pretty much the same habits of winning.”

The Clippers won't have much time to dwell on this game as they travel to Dallas to take on the Mavericks on Monday night, less than 24 hours later.
