Los Angeles Clippers superstar small forward Kawhi Leonard will have no minutes restriction in the team's season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

Load management worked well for Leonard during the regular season in 2018-19 with the Toronto Raptors. The Clippers figure to use that strategy with Leonard this season since they need their all-world swingman to be as close to 100 percent for the playoffs.

Leonard dealt with left knee tendinitis during the Finals against the Golden State Warriors, an ailment which could linger moving forward.

Last season with the Raptors, Leonard averaged 26.6 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists during the regular season. He guided the Raptors to the championship over the Warriors in six games and won his second Finals MVP.

The Clippers have good depth. Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell are more than capable of carrying the load on offense. Plus, once Paul George returns from his shoulder injury, the Clippers will have two superstars to use on offense.

The battle for Los Angeles is going to be really fun to watch this season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis versus Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. It really doesn't get any better than that. For the first time ever, the Clippers and Lakers are title contenders at the same time.
