Kenny Atkinson has emerged as a strong candidate to join Tyronn Lue's staff with the Los Angeles Clippers, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

In addition to Atkinson, Miami Heat assistant coach Dan Craig is said to be another top target for Lue's staff with the Clippers, which is also expected to include former NBA players Chauncey Billups and Larry Drew.

Kenny Atkinson has been a head coaching candidate for several teams this offseason; however, it looks like he'll have to take an assistant job this upcoming season. Atkinson, who coached the Brooklyn Nets for four seasons, mutually parted ways with the team back in March. Throughout his time with the Nets, he recorded a 118-190 record, which is fairly impressive considering the roster they had throughout that stretch. Nets general manager  Sean Marks said one of the main reasons why they parted ways with Atkinson was because they needed a “new voice.”

Dan Craig has been on Erik Spoelstra's staff since 2012, and helped the Heat to the 2013 NBA Championship.

As for the Clippers, it looks like their entire coaching staff is going through a complete makeover after suffering a disappointing season in the 2019-20 campaign. The Clippers were favorites to win the NBA title; however, they blew a 3-1 lead against the Denver Nuggets.

Considering that Kawhi Leonard and Paul George could potentially opt out after this upcoming season, this will be a championship-or-bust season for the Clippers. With that said, there will be a lot of pressure on Lue and the rest of the coaching staff to lead the Clippers to a championship this upcoming season.
