The Los Angeles Clippers moved up to 37-18 after a 131-124 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Even without All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard, they secured their fifth straight win to remain in third place in the Western Conference.

Without Leonard, the team used a balanced effort, with seven players scoring in double figures led by Marcus Morris’ season-high 33 points and All-Star Paul George’s 32 markers. While the Pistons kept the game close, they had no answer for the Clippers’ firepower, specifically their outside shooting, which has been the team’s weapon of choice this season.

The Clippers shot a scorching 57.7 percent from beyond the arc against the Pistons, making 15-of-26 long distance shots. Morris was 6-of-8 from deep, while Nicolas Batum drained all four of his rainbow attempts. Their sizzling shooting from downtown allowed the Clippers to surpass a record previously owned by the 2015-2016 Golden State Warriors, who went on to finish with a 73-9 record, the best regular season in NBA history.

With a 42.1 percent shooting from three-point range through 55 games, the Clippers surpassed the Warriors’ 41.6 percent clip from downtown, an astounding feat considering that The Bay had two of the best shooters of all time in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

Against the Pistons, George shot just 1-of-5 from beyond the arc, but Morris, Batum, Rajon Rondo, Luke Kennard, and Terance Mann all made at least one three-pointer to pick up the slack and maintain their impressive shooting this season. This proved it isn't just the Clippers' All-Stars who are threats from the outside. Anyone from the squad can get hot and light up the scoreboard with three-pointers.
