LOS ANGELES — With the return of Paul George to the lineup, the Los Angeles Clippers are rolling again. There could, however, be even more good news could be on the way in the form of Norman Powell as he looks to return from a foot injury.

The Clippers guard has been out since Feb. 10 after suffering a fractured medial sesamoid bone in his left foot. A non-surgical approach was taken as far as treatment, and it would appear the guard is nearing a return. This after Powell took the Crypto.com Arena court for the first time as a player, and not just in street clothes.

Powell underwent an extensive warmup with Clippers assistant coaches, showing off his jumping, cutting, and agility:

Norman Powell still does not have a timetable to return, per the Clippers, and head coach Tyronn Lue said he wasn't sure if Powell would participate in practice at any point this week. The team is expected to have an official practice Tuesday as well as a potential practice Friday.

Paul George, for one, is looking forward to playing with Norman Powell for the first time since the team acquired him at the February trade deadline.

“Norm’s a pro,” George said of his game meshing withPowell's. “His first game with us he scored 30, so I think with him once you put him out there, he’s a basketball player and he knows how to play. He knows how to play at a high level, so you know it’s just great to have high-level, high-IQ guys that you can put on the court and they can just pick it up, and Norm’s one of them.”

Marcus Morris scored a team-high 22 points to go along with two steals and two blocks in the Clippers' win over the Pelicans on Sunday night. He is also hoping Powell can get back with a game or two left, but isn't expecting any issues jelling together heading into the postseason.

“It’d be great for Norm if he can get back out there, next game or two, just to get a good feel,” Marcus Morris added of Powell. “But for the rest of the guys – obviously PG, which we kind of know what to expect from his team as far as tracking and things like that. So he knows everybody who is on the court. We’ve all played together last year. So adding guys like Isaiah, Rob and T. Mann and all of those playing in that second unit I think is going to be great for us. I think our second unit is going to be really, really pivotal for us.”

The Clippers have three games remaining over the final week of the 2021-22 regular season. On Wednesday, the Clippers take on the Phoenix Suns, who will be on the second night of a back-to-back set. Phoenix has nothing to play for after locking up the NBA's best record already. There's a chance they rest some players Wednesday, but that's yet to be determined.

The final two games for the Clippers come against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday and Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, both with a 6:30 p.m. PT tipoff time.
