The LA Clippers are interested in signing point guard Derrick Rose, sources tell ClutchPoints. This comes after G-League stud Tyrone Wallace has completed his allotted time with the Clippers as per his two-way contract.

The Clippers could opt to sign Derrick Rose to a 10-day contract, but it's unclear how significant their interest in him is at this time.

Derrick Rose last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 7th. He was then traded to the Utah Jazz on trade deadline day and was immediately waived where he hit free agency. Rose's season got off to a decent statistical start with the Cavs, averaging 14.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in 26.8 minutes per game, but didn't help the Cavs where they needed it most: defensively and as a playmaker alongside star LeBron James. Rose also took a extended leave of absence from the team lasting two months as he dealt with personal issues and an ankle injury.

While Wallace has been terrific for the Clippers, a source says the two sides haven't made much progress towards a new deal as of yet. Wallace's final day of his two-way contract with the Clippers came on Tuesday night against the Denver Nuggets, where he contributed 16 points, two rebounds, five assists, and a steal in 31 minutes of action that saw LA come back from a 19-point, third-quarter deficit to win.

Wallace made an immediate impact in his 21 games with the team, including 12 starts, averaging 10.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 0.9 steals in 27.7 minutes of action. The Bakersfield native who attended Cal appears to be the perfect fit for what the playoff-hopeful Clippers want to do, especially with defensive stud Avery Bradley expected to miss an extended time with a sports hernia.

If the Clippers don't sign Wallace to a deal for the rest of the year or to a long-term deal, he would return to the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario and become a restricted free agent this summer. Any offer he would sign in restricted free agency affords the Clippers an opportunity to match it. It's worth noting that at this time, the Clippers also have just one open roster spot, with both Wallace and another two-way player in C.J. Williams, fighting for that position.

Since adding Wallace from the G-League, the Clippers have gone 14-7, including wins over the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, and the Denver Nuggets, a team they're neck-and-neck with fighting for a playoff spot.
