The LA Clippers have re-signed big man Johnathan Motley to a two-way contract, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic. The Clippers had declined to extend him a qualifying offer last month, but wound up signing him to fill one of their two-way spots to bolster their depth and development.

Motley impressed during his time in the G League last season, which merited some garbage playing time with the Clippers in the NBA, showing enough to warrant some promise. The forward, who is heading into his third NBA season, is likely to fall under the same circumstances under a deep Clippers bench with very little opportunities available.

He played in 22 games for the Clippers last year, averaging 4.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game. Motley was a productive player in the G League, showing plenty of his offensive capabilities, but will need to work on his defense if he is to crack through that ceiling and become part of the Clippers' 15-man roster.

The 24-year-old could be used at center at some point this season, as they only really have Ivica Zubac, Montrezl Harrell and rookie Mfiondu Kabengele as potential cogs at the position.

Motley will join Amir Coffey as the two-way players on the roster, leaving another two roster slots to fill before the start of the season. The Clippers could now use another point guard to bolster their depth in the coming days of the offseason.
