Los Angeles Clippers guard Landry Shamet will get a chance to square off against Team USA ahead of the FIBA World Cup, as he received an invite to USA Basketball's training camp, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. He will be joining this year's first overall pick, Zion Williamson.

Shamet was impressive for the Clippers and Sixers last season, averaging 8.3 points on 44 percent shooting from the field, including 40 percent from beyond the arc as a rookie. Head coach Doc Rivers has been very optimistic about his potential, and it seems that the national team is starting to see that as well.

At this point, only Shamet and Williamson have been announced for the 10-man select team, but they are expected to be joined by some of the league's younger players, and maybe even some of this year's lottery picks as well. The select 10-man team will be squaring off against Team USA's representatives for the FIBA World Cup before they head to China at the end of August.

The 18-man roster of Team USA will be announced within the next few days.

Although most of the attention will be focused on Williamson's participation in the special Team USA camp, this will still be a great opportunity for Shamet to make a name for himself. If he will be able to wow everyone with what he can do on the basketball court, he will definitely receive more invites in the future.

Who knows? Shamet could end up as a member of the national team someday.
