Los Angeles Clippers guard Landry Shamet is excited to take part in the upcoming USA Basketball camp in August. Shamet was selected as member of the USA Select Team, which is a group of young players who will take part in scrimmages with national team mainstays next month.

The 22-year-old guard has a chance to make the Team USA roster, but it is highly unlikely this year because veteran guards like James Harden, Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, and Bradley Beal have made themselves available. Shamet is still looking at the bright side, though, saying that the camp will be a great learning opportunity.

“Just to be able to be in camp for five days around the best players in the world, guys I’m going to be going against, I’m super excited to be able to learn from different coaches and get new perspectives and things like that,” Shamet said via Alex Kennedy of Hoopshype. “It's a lot. I think it'll be a great learning opportunity for me, a great experience.”

Shamet had a strong rookie season, which he split between the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers, respectively, after getting traded before the deadline. In 79 games, the former Wichita State standout averaged 9.1 points on top of 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.
