Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent whenever the 2020-21 free agency period begins. As expected, Clippers shooting guard Lou Williams is hoping Harrell re-signs with the team.

However, Williams wants Harrell to get the money he deserves since he does have a family to provide for:

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Harrell was averaging 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists for the Clippers off the bench. He was also shooting 58.0 percent from the field and 65.8 percent from the free-throw line.

NBA execs believe the Atlanta Hawks could be a summer destination for Harrell if things don’t work out with the Clippers. L.A. also has to address Marcus Morris’ free agency after acquiring him from the New York Knicks.

The Clippers will have the non-bird rights on Morris, which means they can pay him up to $18 million in year one of his next contract based on his current $15 million salary.

Should the Clippers decide to keep Harrell, they could very well end up in the luxury tax. The team will likely have to overpay to keep Trez since multiple clubs are expected to pursue him.

Harrell has career NBA averages of 12.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists. He was the 32nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.

The Clippers love Harrell and they have the best two-man punch off the bench in the league with the forward and Williams leading the charge. Fans of the Clippers are praying Jerry West and Co. decide to keep Montrezl.
