Lou Williams is one of the Los Angeles Clippers brightest spots in a season filled with injuries. The Clippers are not playing as bad as all their injuries would suggest, and a big part of it is Williams' excellent play. His contributions are usually in the scoring and assists columns. This season, he averages a career-high 23.4 points and 5.0 assists. It is the first time he has crossed the 19-points, five-assists marks. It also helps he is playing the most minutes in his career, but he has been doing it mostly off the bench. Out of 44 games, the former Sixth Man of the Year has only started 14.

But last night, he broke a franchise record in a category probably he did not even see coming. In the Clippers 113-125 loss to the Utah Jazz, Williams broke a Clippers record with 10 steals in the game. He is the only player in franchise history with double-digit steals in a single game. As ClutchPoints' Tomer Azarly reported during the game last night, Williams broke Doc Rivers' record of nine steals:

Rivers, now Williams' coach, saw his record eclipsed from the Clippers bench. He played a single season for the Clippers in 1991-92. Rivers averaged 10.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.9 steals, coming mostly off the bench, just like Williams.

Sweet Lout finished the night with 31 points, seven assists, two rebounds, and 10 steals with only three turnovers on 9-for-21 shooting from the field and a perfect 11-for-11 at the free throw line. The 10 steals are way over his season average of 1.1. Williams is the clear Sixth Man of the Year frontrunner, and he has left his mark on the Clippers franchise in only half a season.
