Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams is one of the most explosive bench scorers in the NBA, but before he became what he is today, he nearly lost his life.

Back on Christmas Eve in 2011 when Williams was playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, a man held him at gunpoint and planned on robbing him. That is, until Williams convinced the man not to do so and then took him out to McDonald's afterward:

That truly is an incredible story that had one heck of a happy result.

The 32-year-old, who skipped college to go straight to the pros, was originally selected by the 76ers in the second round (45th pick overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft.

He was a non-factor over his first two years in the league, but in his third season, Williams began to develop into a microwave scorer, averaging 11.5 points per game in a bench role for Philadelphia.

Williams ended up spending the first seven years of his career with the Sixers before signing with the Atlanta Hawks during the summer of 2012. He went on to spend two seasons with the Hawks, producing mixed results before being dealt to the Toronto Raptors during the summer of 2014.

The Memphis native averaged 15.5 points per game that season, which, at the time, was a career high. He then made his way to the Los Angeles Lakers. He proceeded to truly break out during his second year in LA, averaging 16.7 points per game before being traded to the Houston Rockets at the deadline.

Williams then landed with the Clippers that ensuing summer, and last season, he averaged 22.6 points per game. This year, he is registering 20.3 points and 5.3 assists a night.
