One intriguing storyline for the 2019-20 NBA season is the “Battle for Los Angeles” between the Lakers and Clippers, with Lou Williams in the background.

The Lakers made the big play for Anthony Davis and have supplemented Davis, LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma with a strong group of veterans in the supporting cast. Meanwhile, the Clippers may have won free agency after making a blockbuster deal for Paul George and signing reigning NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard in a stunning series of moves.

For years, the Lakers have dominated the basketball landscape in Hollywood. But the rivalry is very real now, and fans of both teams are making their feelings known.

The Clippers posted an Instagram to the official team account acknowledging forward Montrezl Harrell's invitation to the USA National Team.

A comment from shooting guard Lou Williams drew a response from an apparent Lakers fan claiming that “AD got sumthin” for the Clippers next season. Unfazed, Williams brushed the comment aside with a humorous stroke of genius:

As Drake would say, “Boomin' out in South Gwinett like Lou Will.”

George and Leonard put the Clippers over the top as title contenders next season, but Williams is sure to provide a crucial scoring presence off the bench.

Williams won his second straight Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging 20.0 points, 5.4 assists and 3.0 rebounds last season. Although the Clippers would lose to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs, Williams averaged 21.7 points and 7.7 assists, posting 30-point double-doubles in Game 2 and Game 5 and excelling in pick-and-roll with Harrell.

With Lou Will anchoring the bench unit for the Clippers, the Lakers are sure to have their hands full every time they play their crosstown rival.
