On Monday night, Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams became the NBA's all-time leading scorer off the bench.

After dropping 34 points against the Boston Celtics en route to his record-setting night, Williams couldn't help but be humbled about what he accomplished:

Williams needed 28 points last night to surpass previous record-holder Dell Curry, who finished his career with 11,147 points as a reserve. It's safe to say Sweet Lou did not need another game to finally claim the top spot as he finished the night with 11,154 career bench points.

Nonetheless, despite this amazing career accomplishment, Williams wants to make sure he puts his point total off the bench out of reach. He is aware that Phoenix Suns guard Jamal Crawford may still catch up to him:

Crawford, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner, is currently at third on the reserve scoring list with 11,112 points. While Crawford is still active, Williams may just have the all-time record in his bag at this point.

The 38-year old Crawford is at the tail end of his career and is currently producing his lowest scoring output since his debut campaign in 2000-01. On the other hand, Williams, 32, is still at the peak of his powers.

Williams is enjoying his best years with the Clippers, where he has started just 19 of his 141 games with the franchise. In two seasons with the Hollywood-based squad, he is putting up career bests in  points (21.6 PPG), assists (5.3 APG), field goal percentage (43.3 percent), and free-throw percentage (88.1 percent).

Lou Williams is one of the leaders of this playoff-bound Clippers team. With yet another marvelous campaign pretty much in the books, he may be looking at tying Crawford with a third Sixth Man of the Year award attached to his name.
