The LA Clippers have struggled to put together wins on a consistent basis, in large part due to all the injuries and health and safety protocols. Reggie Jackson, Nicolas Batum, Marcus Morris, Luke Kennard, and Ivica Zubac are the latest to be forced to miss time due to health and safety protocols. The only positive to come from it all is it’s allowed a number of players to get NBA opportunities. It’s also allowed Justise Winslow to find some rhythm as the backup, small-ball center for the Clippers.

Winslow has really found his groove over the last three games, averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 21.9 minutes per game off the Clippers’ bench.

In the team’s latest loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Winslow was in a lineup with fellow left-handed players Jay Scrubb and Amir Coffey. That prompted a question from one reporter as to whether he’d be intrigued in a five-man, all-lefty lineup featuring Scrubb, Coffey, himself, Isaiah Hartenstein and Luke Kennard.

That’s when Winslow stopped the reporter to let the room know that Kennard, the league’s second best three-point shooter, was not actually left handed.

“Luke’s not left-handed, so don’t let him try to be left-handed,” Winslow joked. “No. ain’t nothing Natural, he’s right handed, he’s not left handed.”

“So he just lies to everybody?” the Clippers reporter asked?

“He lies,” Winslow confirmed.

Winslow was so confident about his statement, that he claimed to have had a conversation with Kennard himself about it.

“I think I saw something about LaMelo and like LaMelo’s dad made him. Like, my dad did that to one of my brothers too, so I understand. I don’t know if Luke did that happen.”

Soon after, Luke Kennard responded to his Clippers teammate and former Duke Blue Devil via Twitter with a GIF of Kanye West saying, “I guess we’ll never know.”

Kennard was dealing with a hip injury for the last several games. He recently tested positive for COVID-19 and has been out due to health and safety protocols.

In 35 appearances for the Clippers, the lefty Kennard is averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists per game on 43.2 percent shooting from the field, 44.1 percent from three, and 88 percent from the free throw line.
