If Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris had his way, he wouldn't have played against the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday in the wake of the shocking riot at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC. Several teams performed acts of solidarity before their respective games by kneeling to denounce the violent acts of Donald Trump supporters.

Morris and the rest of the Clippers did the same before tip-off at Chase Center and proceeded to play through the scheduled contest. But upon further contemplation, the 31-year-old forward revealed that the game shouldn't have pushed through at all. Per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints:

“I think it happened so fast that it was one of those things where we just made a decision as a whole just to take a knee. But my personal opinion, that wasn’t enough. I don’t think we should have even played. But we did, and we came together, and we thought taking a knee was appropriate. That wasn’t brought up. I think guys were already in the mode of playing. But if it was my decision, I wouldn’t have.”

Marcus Morris of the Clippers added that the incident was far bigger than basketball and made the case why the league should have also postponed the games as it did back in the bubble last year following the shooting of Jacob Blake.

“Just being an African-American, I know that, quite frankly, if that was people of color, then that would’ve played out a lot differently. And it’s just unfortunate, man. It’s just unfortunate the state that we’re in in this country. But all we can do is pray, and hopefully the right things come about.”

The Clippers, meanwhile, came out victorious against the Warriors, 108-101. Morris pitched in 12 points, two rebounds, and two assists in 18 minutes to help LA improve to a 6-3 record.
