Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell is the newly minted Sixth Man of the Year for the 2019-20 NBA season, winning the award the other day for his performance coming off the bench this past season.

Despite the most recent accolade and confidence of turning into a legit threat off the pine, Harrell, 26, is still greatly appreciative when one of the game's living legends recognizes him.

Former NBA MVP and Hall of Fame point guard Allen Iverson, known best for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, took time to congratulate the rising star Harrell on social media on Saturday morning. Iverson, 45, called Harrell's achievement “well deserved,” to which the Clippers center thanked “The Answer” and said he's at a “lost of words.”

Harrell is finishing up his third season with the Clippers after originally starting his career as a second-round pick of the Houston Rockets out of the University of Louisville back in 2015. Harrell was fatefully sent to L.A. in the Chris Paul sign-and-trade from the Clippers to the Rockets.

The 2019-20 season saw Harrell average 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in 27.8 minutes per game, shooting 58.0 percent from the field in 63 appearances, all but two of which were coming off the bench.

Harrell and veteran guard Lou Williams led the Clippers' impressive bench unit. Williams, already a three-time winner of the award, was also a finalist for the 2019-20 Sixth Man of the Year. Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Dennis Schröder came in second place in voting, 69 points behind Harrell, for the honor.

Iverson, a Hampton, Virginia native, was an 11-time All-Star and four-time scoring champion before retiring in 2010. Harrell was born and raised in North Carolina before attending high school for some time in Chatham, Virginia, 210 miles west of Iverson's former stomping grounds.
