Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell is the 2020 Sixth Man of the Year, and the energetic North Carolina native is dedicating the award to his late grandmother who was the first person to put a basketball in his hand as a youngster.

Harrell's grandma passed away last month, and the tragic event forced the Clippers forward to leave the Orlando bubble for a while.

After winning the award and celebrating with his teammates on Friday, Harrell spoke with TNT about what it means to win the award after so many people doubted him coming out of the University of Louisville

Montrezl Harrell averaged 18.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game for the Clippers during the 2019-20 regular season. He also shot 58.0 percent from the field and 65.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Harrell is the third Clippers player to win the Sixth Man of the Year Award, joining Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford. Harrell's grandmother is certainly looking down on her grandson on this joyous occasion.

The 2020 offseason is a big one for Harrell and his family, as the L.A. fan-favorite becomes an unrestricted free agent and could cash in on a contract that will set up his family for generations and generations. The Clippers are expected to re-sign Harrell since he's such an integral part of their success.
